"Very entertaining. Great collection of humorous short stories, so can be read easily in short sittings! There's a variety of humour in here, from darkly comic to downright silly (in a good way), so there's something here to suit everyone's tastes."
L Knight, Amazon customer
Hulloween. The lesser-known, distant relative (second uncle's cousin thrice removed) of Halloween. It's a similar celebration of all things dead and dark and dreadful, but smattered with humour and located in corners of the world named Hull.
There are more Hulls than one would think. Fewer Hulls than hills, but more Hulls than hulks. Having re-read the previous sentence, I'm usure it helps one understand the number of Hulls there are on the planet... I would recommned utilising your online map provider of choice and having a look. There might be a Hull near you.
Let's get back on track. This is a page about a book. A mighty book. Filled with glorious stories. Penned by writers blessed with imagination. And word magic.
"What is the title of the epic tome?" I hear you cry.
It is called the To Hull And Back Short Story Anthology 2025.
The anthology cover was designed by Dan Bell. It features the glorious guise of winner, Eugenie Pusenjak.

The stories in this book are fun and quirky, written by writers with vivid imaginations. This means all the tales are highly original and entertaining to read. I predict that each will become a fable of mirth and legend in the future.

The To Hull And Back Short Story Anthology 2025 Book Cover
The 2025 To Hull And Back anthology cover was designed and created by Dan Bell.
Dan Bell is an artist and illustrator working in the north-east of England. He engages with landscapes and finds relationships between the viewer and the landscape, somewhere that becomes familiar.
Dan studied his BA and MFA in fine art at Sheffield Hallam, drawing inspiration for landscapes from the everyday, whether he’d be adjusting the landscape with a mirror or taking a part of the landscape away to make his artwork. Dan has started creating book covers and board game characters for clients as a way to gain a direction for an artwork, as it was less directed by what he saw and more by the imagination of someone else’s story.
You can find out more about Dan by looking at his portfolio or on his Instagram page.
