The Fourth Album by UK Rock Band Airbus Imperial Gunpowder
Released on Spira Records, IMPERIAL GUNPOWDER is the fourth studio album from UK rock band AIRBUS, featuring 10 songs that showcase the band’s diverse, unique sound. It isn’t a concept album – it’s a collection of songs that explore the inevitability of human nature. This album looks at our worst instincts and the cyclical nature of that bad behaviour.
"Absolutely brilliant album. Incredible songs! 100% recommended. Really interesting with the different musical styles. 'Tonight We Ride' sounding western / piratey with rock elements. 'Last of the Great Barbarians' is a great ending track. Really great modern rock music."

PRESS RELEASE:
IMPERIAL GUNPOWDER is the fourth studio album from UK rock band AIRBUS. Released on Spira Records, it features 10 powerful songs that showcase the band’s diverse, unique sound.
The album was recorded on both sides of the Atlantic – in an ancient cottage in Portishead called The Grange, where many Airbus songs were written; in a basement studio in Bristol, where the band honed their sound; in Los Angeles, at various studios around the city.
IMPERIAL GUNPOWDER isn’t a concept album. It’s a collection of songs that explore the inevitability of human nature. As a species, we can be pretty destructive, always looking for new and more creative ways to hurt each other. We’re not just talking about war – even in relationships, we seem to like to sabotage ourselves and the people we love. This album looks at our worst instincts and the cyclical nature of that bad behaviour.
AIRBUS are undertaking a short UK tour in March to support the release of the album. The main event will be taking place at Portishead’s Somerset Hall on Friday 20th March 2026 at 7pm.
Tickets are available from Headfirst Bristol.
A variety of videos have been made to support the album, which will be available on the band’s YouTube channel in March.
AIRBUS are currently working on more music – both old and new – and will be releasing more albums in the coming years.

Imperial Gunpowder Reviews
“Airbus return with their explosive fourth album, Imperial Gunpowder. Landing via Spira Records, the record delivers ten powerful tracks that capture the band’s diverse, experimental edge while staying rooted in timeless rock song-writing. Blending rock, experimental rock and a strong ’90s influence, Airbus carve out a sound that will resonate with fans of Blur, Fleetwood Mac and Muse. Big hooks, dynamic shifts and emotional depth collide across an album that feels both reflective and urgent. This record delivers songs that feels lived in, atmospheric and sonically expansive. Imperial Gunpwoder is a collection of songs examining the inevitability of human nature. The album doesn’t preach. It observes. It reflects. And, at times, it hits uncomfortably close to home.”

"Bit of an issue with the CD. I put it in the stereo and couldn't get it out for nearly four hours. If it had been on vinyl the stylus would have worn a hole through it after the first three hours. Every track is stunningly refreshing without exception, so I had to keep playing it to check. If Airbus don't achieve musical mortality with this album there is no justice in the world. Nice one gentlemen. Be proud, very proud."
