'These darkly comic tales place the author snugly between Douglas Adams and Terry Pratchett. Be sure: Chris Fielden is one funny feller.' Allen Ashley, British Fantasy Award winner.

About The Dark Lane Anthology

The Dark Lane anthologies are published by Dark Lane Books, a small, independent publisher based in Bristol, UK. They specifically ask for 'weird' tales in their submission guidelines, which suited my style.

I met Tim Jeffreys, the editor, at a book launch in Bristol. After chatting with him at the event, I realised Dark Lane was a good place for me to submit - my stories are humorous, fantastical and quirky, which is what Dark Lane are after.

I submitted a couple of stories for Tim's consideration. He accepted one called Mr Kill for publication in the anthology. You can read it for free on my website to get a flavour of what to expect from the rest of the book prior to purchasing it.

Dark Lane operates with low budgets, so they can't afford to pay authors. However, the printed books are beautifully presented and illustrated. Contributors receive a copy of the book. Volume 4 contains illustrations by Vikki Yeates, Sally Barnett, and Andrea Adams.

The anthologies are published a couple of times a year. If you write unusual, quirky, weird and/or wonderful stories, it's a great place to submit. You can learn more about submitting on the Dark Lane Books website. At the time of writing, they are currently accepting submissions for Volume 5.

You can learn about many more magazine and anthology publishing opportunities on my short story magazines page. It contains extensive lists of publishers from all over the world.
